Over the years new gacha games came and gone, and as of 2023, these are my top favorites that are still around. We will look at five of my top gacha games: Fate/Grand Order, Blue Archives, Honkai: Star Rail, Genshin Impact, and Arknights. These games have great characters, interesting gameplay, stunning visuals, and captivating storylines. Let's go over my top favorite gacha games.
Fate/Grand Order
Fate/Grand Order is the game that got me to go get a smartphone as I was fine with a flip phone. Even as time has passed it is still one of the bigger gacha games. This mobile game, based on the popular Fate franchise, lets players summon and command a diverse roster of historical and mythical heroes known as Servants. The combat may not be for everyone the effects of noble phantasm are great to watch. With its rich storytelling in visual novel format alongside great artwork, it has pulled me in and back to play it for years. Even now the game keeps adding more to the game adding more story, characters, and events.
Blue Archives
Blue Archives hooked me on the visuals. You take on as role of a teacher guiding a group of talented students on a captivating journey to a complex academy. This gacha game is very friendly on the pulls as I mostly play it as a free-to-play player. It has a good mix of strategy, RPG, PVP, and visual novel elements that I love in gacha games. The more you increase the student's bond you will end up unlocking the bond story which puts a very nice touch to the game. With more and more content coming out, I will always look forward to this game.
Honkai: Star Rail
Honkai: Star Rail makes this list even though it just came out recently the combat is excellent and I currently love the story. It looks visually great along with the visual effects and music. It has a nice cast of characters though the amount currently that I would put on my top tier of likes is still lacking. Though it has fixed a lot of things I started to dislike heavily about Genshin Impact. So I will keep playing for some time to come as there is still a lot more content that I would want to experience.
Genshin Impact
Genshin Impact is a game that I joined in on release like the others on this list. I liked that it was open-world gacha that runs on my PC as I am normally a PC gamer. It has lush landscapes, diverse characters, and immersive gameplay. The main story to me fills a bit lacking with the expectation of Sumeru storyline. The speed of releasing new story arcs feels slow for me compared to other titles I have played. The character themselves probably pushed me to keep playing and new hope that some of the new stories and events stories are getting better. I will more than likely play this to the end.
Arknights
Arknights is a unique tower defense gacha game that combines strategy, visuals, great characters, and a captivating storyline. With all that it pull me right in and had me hooked. Set in a post-apocalyptic world plagued by a deadly infection called Oripathy, players take on the role of Doctor at Rhodes Island, an organization fighting to save infected individuals. By strategically placing operators with various skills and abilities, players must defend against waves of enemies. Arknights' engaging gameplay, striking character designs, and compelling narrative make it a great game to play for any skill level.
In the gacha gaming scene in 2023 that I have my hand in I would say that I like Fate/Grand Order, Blue Archives, Honkai: Star Rail, Genshin Impact, and Arknights are undeniably my favorites. Each game offers its own unique blend of captivating storytelling, stunning visuals, and engaging gameplay mechanics. Whether you're a fan of the Fate franchise, strategic tower defense, action RPGs, visual novels, or open-world exploration, these gacha games are guaranteed to provide hours of thrilling entertainment. So, dive into these mesmerizing worlds, roll your heroes, and embark on epic adventures that will keep you hooked for years to come!
