The summer 2023 season just starting for new animes, the following animes are the ones I either plan on watching or might watch that are not sequels of anime that already has aired.
Definitely Will Watch
Helck
The reason why I picked Helck to watch is that I read a few chapters and along with a few of the characters caught my interest. The previews did not give any reason to dislike it, the funny interaction with Vamirio and Helck, and it sawed Hyura caught my interest.
Liar Liar
The reason I picked this one is that gave off a bit of No Game No Life and maybe Kaguya-sama: Love is War vibes to me along with something else. The plot involves playing games that include lies and bluffs and betting stars to be number one. I also like the character designs so overall I would like this anime.
Zom 100: Zombie ni Naru made ni Shitai 100 no Koto
After watching the preview on youtube, push this to the top of my list. The plot is that the main character joins a job that works him to the bone. Then the world ends up filled with zombies which shows a bit of comedic spin to it.
Rurouni Kenshin: Meiji Kenkaku Romantan (2023)
I have watched most of the older Rurouni Kenshin so I see no reason not to watch the newer one. The animations look clean so I do not see a reason for one to give it a watch.
Ones I May Watch
Undead Girl Murder Farce
The PV gave me some interest in watching it but I am not totally sure. I like the supernatural detective theme with a head in a birdcage, oni, and maid. I may just give it three episodes before I decide on it.
Eiyuu Kyoushitsu
What caught my eye was the side characters Arnest Flaming and Sophie but watching the PV the main character is not really to my liking I guess. It has a fantasy academy theme to it. Overall I may end up just skipping this one.
Jidou Hanbaiki ni Umarekawatta Ore wa Meikyuu wo Samayou
Another isekai anime but the main character just gets reborn as a vending machine. The plot is just the main character who cannot speak or move but can play pre-recorded sounds. Lammis found out that vending machine is sentient so she takes him around the world. I may give this one a shot as it would give a good laugh.
Dark Gathering
Another anime with a dark theme to it involves encountering spirits and haunted spots. Yayoi Houzuki's skull eyes are an interesting choice. Overall this one looks like you would need to watch a few episodes before deciding on if you want to watch more.
Suki na Ko ga Megane wo Wasureta
This looks like a cute romance to watch as one of the main points is that Ai Mie keeps forgetting her glasses which she really needs so Kaeda Komura the main character helps her out. This one probably ends up being a definitely will watch at some point. The only issue is that in one of the PV the walking up the stairs angles felt off to me.
Ryza no Atelier: Tokoyami no Joou to Himitsu no Kakurega
This one is based on the game which I played at some point. The animations looked good in PV and I like a few of the character designs so it would be worth a shot watching.
Nanatsu no Maken ga Shihai suru
The instant idea I got from watching the PV was that it was anime Harry Potter. The theme involves the main character joining a prestigious magic school and ending up trying to uncover the dark truth of the academy. I probably end up watching this one also it got my interest.
Conclusion for Summer 2023 Non-Sequel Animes
Hopefully, I can get my schedule in order but I am more than likely to have to axe a few from the list to start watching the summer 2023 anime season. My top picks are Helck, Liar Liar, Zom 100: Zombie ni Naru made ni Shitai 100 no Koto, and Rurouni Kenshin: Meiji Kenkaku Romantan (2023) for non-sequels animes. At the end of the day, it would always be best to pick the ones that suit your interest to watch.
